The basic posture for Belly Dance is: Feet are hip width apart Knees are slightly bent Pelvis is slightly tilted forward Chest is raised and open Shoulders relaxed and down Head held high and balanced Arms held shoulder height, with elbows slightly bent This may sound complicated, but to becomes easy with practice. It is basically a ‘grounded' position, such as is used in yoga, Tai Chi or marshal arts.
